We Love Hythe Life Food Festival August 2017

So the spring lamb on our dinner plates has now been replaced by sizzling sausages fresh from the barbecue. Summer's here – and that means the We Love Hythe Life food festival is just around the corner again!

Last year's inaugural festival was such a roaring success that we knew we just had to make it a permanent fixture in the events' calendar. So we're back – and this time, we promise that the festival will be bigger and (even) better! In terms of 'bigger', the most exciting change we've made is to extend the length of the festival so that it runs for all three days of the August bank holiday weekend. Do pencil Saturday 26- Monday 28th August into your diary if you'd like to come and soak up the last weekend of summer with us. You'll be assured the warmest of welcomes and a veritable feast of foodie treats at our Hythe Cricket Club venue, on the north bank of the canal.

But our buzzword this year has been 'more', so that's not the only way we've grown the festival: we've also lined up a whole host of talented new exhibitors to join many of last year's familiar faces, more must-see demonstrations from Kent's leading chefs, mixologists and food suppliers (and a bigger demo tent!), more children's entertainment – including a craft area - in our exciting new kids' area and, following feedback from last year's festival-goers, more seating areas.

That's not to say that last year's favourites aren't back, though: the hugely popular live music stage will once again host an eclectic mix of acts whilst the We Love Hythe Life festival beer tent will be returning to quench your thirst and this year, we're launching our very own We Love Hythe Life food festival ale, which has been created especially for us. Come along and try it: you won't be able to get it anywhere else!

Sharing food as a way of building and strengthening social bonds is a communal act that dates right back to our hunter-gatherer ancestors – so we think a food festival is the perfect way to celebrate the wonderful Hythe community. We want to make it an annual event that is for the community, about the community and by the community. With that in mind, we'd love to hear from anyone who would like to volunteer at this year's event. Whether you'd prefer to be backstage or front-of-house, there's a job to suit everyone's skills: we're keen to involve as many local people as possible. Do get in touch if you think you can spare the time to join our happy team!

We're also making the festival more interactive this year, with various competitions running throughout the weekend to allow residents to get stuck in. Keep checking back with us for further information.

For further information on what's going on when, make sure you look out for the new festival brochure, featuring a full events' line-up, which will be free to all festival-goers. We hope this will make it easier for you to plan your visit – and, of course, to ensure that you don't miss out on your favourite acts, demos and events! We'll also be publishing the schedule and exhibitor list on our website and Facebook page – so don't forget to 'like' us to receive regular updates!

The We Love Hythe Life Food Festival 2017. Bigger? Definitely. Better? We certainly think so!
